Product: USB-C 3-in-1 Multiport A/V Converter (Model 152983). The HP HDMI to VGA adapter maximizes the display functionality of your HP Ultrabook or notebook PC by converting the HDMI output signal to an analog VGA input for easy connecting to an external VGA display for dual-display productivity.
Sound output to a TV is on the HDMI but not on DVI-D. I would try a HDMI to DVI-D cable and drop the VGA Converter. Overview: I want to connect a monitor to my laptop thru my USB-C port using a converter that i bought, but it will not send a signal to the monitor. Answer: Looking at the Specs for the HP-S2031A I see it has DVI-D connection as well as VGA. Which again wasn't very helpful.First time posting(new member), I will try to provide as much detail as possible per the site rules.thanks in advance friends!
I've even tried to reinstall my intel graphic driver. I've also checked my in built intel graphics settings to see if it was trying to push a higher resolution or a differnet frequency to the second screen, but nothing seemed out of place there. But the other projection options like extend or show only on 2 the monitor displayed OUT OF RANGE. When I checked the advanced display settings the second monitor was not detected but when I selected duplicate screens from the options, my laptop resolution automatically adapted to the second monitor's native resolution and both monitors were working. I updated my display drivers individually (though they were already up to date) and also restarted my computer numerous times.Īs I was trying to solve my issue I noticed that my laptop no longer recognised the second monitor. I then checked if all my drivers were up to date. The HDMI standard supports outputting 50 mA of current at 5 VDC (250 mW) on pin 18.I am guessing that HP figured out a way to power the HDMI to VGA converter, inside the VGA jack housing, with that little bit of power. I also realized that my computer only had one HDMI port so I got a 4 way HDMI splitter. It already had a VGA cable, so I bought a VGA to HDMI adapter as my computer didn't have a VGA port. I plugged the cable, adapter and monitor to all my other computers and it seemed to work fine. My family had an older monitor (an HP S2031 Monitor, no HDMI, just VGA and DVI) that I decided to use it for a second screen. The first thing I checked was the cable and the adapter. I checked all the possibilities but I still can't find a solution. On doing some research, I found that there could be numerous causes to my problem.
I hard reset the monitor and also tried a software reset. I then changed the resolution back to its dafault value but the error message was still being displayed.
I tried to change the ASUS monitor's resolution to 1080 (native resolution 1366x768) which threw me an error saying OUT OF RANGE. When I first connected the monitor to my laptop both the laptop and the monitor adapted to their native resolutions and were working fine. I tried connecting it to my old ASUS VH192D monitor using a HDMI to VGA converter (the laptop doesn't have VGA port and the monitor doesn't have a HDMI port). I use a HP Envy x-360 m6 Convertible laptop running windows 10.
